About three years ago, I finalized the sale of saxpics.com to USAhorn. Without going into overwhelming detail why I sold the website, I really wanted to get some extra cash to help paying a few bills and I really didn’t have the time to devote to keeping up the ‘site. I had a few offers, but I went with USAHorn because they said that they’d maintain the ‘site as an information resource, not just as a sales ‘site.
After USAHorn bought the ‘site, they did an overhaul of the database system I used to store the pictures, Coppermine Photo Gallery. They also used a new system to lay out each page (I had used straight HTML). The problem with this was that it broke a lot of links and a lot of pictures became semi-inaccessible. It’s still a lot like that, today.
Fortunately, considering I designed the the original website, I do know how to navigate it. To an extent :).
Please note that I haven’t checked all the links and some of the directories do have redirects to a 404 page. Additionally, things may be slightly misfiled or kinda just thrown around, especially for makes/models I hadn’t done any research on before I sold the website: see those “Main Instrument Pages” for the makes/models I did research. If I remember correctly, the last section I did for saxpics.com before its sale was Pierret.
A final comment I have is that some of the pages used Java-based navigation. It was cutting-edge for the late 1990’s, but it’s outdated, now.
For what it’s worth, I like the overall LOOK of the redesigned saxpics.com website. I also think that the picture layout looks rather spiffy. So, you might want to check out the new version before using the links below. Or not. Hey, I just provide the info.
