I bought an YSS475 yamaha Soprano Sax it’s in good shape with otto MP and Rovner Lig.
Original owner. Do you think $1,275 is a good price? I have a chance to return it if I don’t like it.
What is your professional opinion? I do Gigs with my Alto Yas875 using Sop as extra. Thanks

That’s about average price for used in really good shape.

I’ve mentioned in a couple places that I’m not very good at playing straight sopranos, so that horn’s not for me, but that’s just me. You shouldn’t have a problem with it.

Thanks for your input. I will try. I hope I like it.
Do you recommend a good Mouth Piece in the $100 range??

That’s really a topic with no bottom. I’ve known a few folks that play Otto Links and like them. I’m not overly fond of them. I can say that the stock mouthpiece that comes with the Yamaha really isn’t bad for a plastic ‘piece. You might want to go down to a music store and see if you can test a couple, especially the same kind you have on your alto.

If I was going to get a mouthpiece to replace my Sigurd Raschers, the first one I’d check would be the Selmer Soloist, primarily because the original Soloists were really good. Meyer is also a possibility, because I’ve tried one in the past and thought it was OK. I liked the Vandoren B40 and 45 on my clarinets, so I might dabble in checking out their offerings for sax. Hey, I prefer their reeds, too ….

You could always sell the Otto Link, if you don’t like it. eBay’s a wonderful thing!
