    Luthier Vents

    by  • November 3, 2011 • Interesting Websites

http://luthiervents.blogspot.com This is a gorgeous blog that’s about wind manufacturers. They’ve got tons of pics of odd French saxophone makes that I’m only peripherally aware of, like, oh, Cabart.  Check out the F. Renoux horns!

    Google Patents

    by  • July 15, 2010 • Interesting Websites

For me, this is now the ultimate research tool. Google is taking over the world.  Just be glad that they let you live in it. OK, now that we’ve gotten the obligatory humor out of the way, the Google Patent Search is based on the US Patent and Trade Office’s (USPTO) database of patents...

    www.allegro.pl

This is essentially a Polish-language version of eBay. Now, I can’t speak Polish, but Google Chrome and Iron (the non-Google-branded version of Chrome) do have built-in Google Translate functions, so you can navigate fairly easily.  The musical instruments section is http://www.allegro.pl/9498_instrumenty_instrumenty_dete.html and, if you’re just looking for saxophones, you go to the subsection that...

Another interesting website.  This is an auction house in the UK (Bath, to be very specific).  Fortunately, they archive their auctions and generally have a few pics in each. http://www.gardinerhoulgate.co.uk

    Stephen Howard Woodwinds

    by  • July 3, 2010 • Interesting Websites

I’m surprised I hadn’t mentioned this website earlier. Mr. Howard’s website is a wealth of information and reviews of both new and vintage instruments. At the very least, you can go there and just look at the pretty pictures. Highly recommended. http://www.shwoodwind.co.uk

    Mediatheque

    by  • June 17, 2010 • Interesting Websites

Yes, this website is in French.  However, it’s relatively easy to navigate if either you use a newish version of Google Chrome and click the “Translate” button.  Or if you can read some French :). I, of course, am interested in the loads of pretty pictures.  Take a look at the link for “Collections...
